SUMMARY:Virtual Book Club: The Anxious Generation
DESCRIPTION:The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt\n  \nWe can’t ignore the very real issues facing our kids from mental health to social development to sleep issues to bullying. The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt is a book that is known to be thought provoking and actionable. \nJoin me on Slack throughout the summer for a discussion of the book\, what lessons we can take away\, and how to make small changes that will have a large ripple effect.  \n  \nOrder here or at your local bookstore. Audio and digital versions are available Libby\, Spotify\, Kindle\, or your preferred reading platform \n  \nSummary of Anxious Generation: Jonathan Haidt lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit so many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood\, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent\, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the play-based childhood began to decline by the 1980’s\, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the phone-based childhood in the early 2010’s. He presents more than a dozen mechanisms by which this great rewiring of childhood has interfered with children’s social and neurological development\, covering everything from sleep deprivation to attention fragmentation\, addiction\, loneliness\, social contagion\, social comparison\, and perfectionism. He explains how social media damages girls more than boys and why boys have been withdrawing from the real world into the virtual world\, with disastrous consequences for themselves\, their families\, and their societies.

SUMMARY:Unleashed: Raising Brave\, Capable Kids (Week 1)
DESCRIPTION:A 4-week group coaching experience for parents ready to step back—so their kids can step up. \nModern parenting is full of pressure—and fear. We’re told to protect our kids from every possible discomfort\, but in doing so\, we often rob them of the chance to grow. Inspired by The Anxious Generation\, Let Grow\, and the Free-Range Parenting movement\, this pod is for parents who want to raise confident\, resilient\, independent kids—but find themselves caught in the anxiety-fueled culture of modern parenting. \nOver four weeks\, we’ll explore what it really takes to foster independence and emotional strength in our kids—starting with a shift in us. You’ll connect with other thoughtful parents\, gain tools to challenge anxious narratives\, and build a new kind of confidence: the kind that lets you loosen your grip and trust your child to grow. \nWhat We’ll Cover: \n🧠 Week 1 – What Are We So Afraid Of?\n Get curious about what’s really driving overprotection—and how to begin breaking the cycle. \n🔑 Week 2 – The Freedom Formula\n Learn how to encourage independence at any age\, support risk-taking\, and help kids grow from failure. \n💬 Week 3 – Rewiring Ourselves\n Tame your own anxiety\, respond with calm\, and practice letting go in ways that still feel safe. \n🌱 Week 4 – Brave Kids\, Brave Parents\n Reflect\, celebrate progress\, and design a home culture that values trust\, growth\, and resilience.
